We’re Inspired in Oldham to create a female-fronted podcast!
We’re having the best time at the moment, working with an incredible bunch of women from Inspire Women CIC, based in Oldham, Greater Manchester. We’re supporting them to make a female-fronted podcast series about their experiences, so that they can inspire lots more women like them.
Here at MIC Media we’re all about opening up podcasts and the power of audio to people who’d never normally access them. We’re giving the Inspire Women the tools and a far-reaching platform, to authentically share their stories, views and talents through a brand-new female-fronted podcast.
Inspire Women are a diverse women-led Community Interest Company that connects, empowers and encourages women. Their approach is based on the great values of women helping women. Through their fabulous supportive programmes and events, they enable women to re-connect and re-imagine their lives in kind and uplifting spaces.
About the project
We’re delivering our Blended Service, to help the group of 15 women of all ages create their own podcast series. Our blended approach is a combination of podcast training and podcast production support. What’s amazing, is that just a few months ago, many of the women didn’t know what a podcast was. Today, they’re learning how to record and edit audio. Best of all, they’ve done it all online!
This new, female-fronted podcast is a part of a wider Inspire Oldham Project. It sees them work with our buddies Yellow Jigsaw to form a powerful all-female news team.
A word from Inspire
Sally Bonnie, the founder of Inspire Oldham Women explains how the project came about,
During the pandemic our StrongHer Together Group was born, their focus was to learn and build on their skills; to gain confidence in their voice, to contribute towards bringing about the changes women desperately needed. They engaged in conferences through organisations like People’s Powerhouse -’Listening Spaces’, Question Time with the Mayor; and a Covid safe march to the Annie Kenney Statue in Oldham.
I was so very proud of the women and how they contributed. The impact of being seen and heard – “not necessarily being acted upon”, was huge and gave an energy to the women that they wanted to do more, and to learn more.
Sally’s also excited to hear the finished project, she adds,
They have had an incredible learning journey with Vic at MIC Media. The project has further built their confidence, as well as being a brilliant way of further amplifying their voices. Vic is absolutely the right person to do this type of work; she is kind, funny and such a motivating force!
They are already talking about sustaining the podcast beyond the support with Vic. This is their passion and they want to reach more women. I haven’t had a sneak peak of the podcast yet, however I know it will be amazing.”
Thanks Sally, we can’t wait for you and everybody to hear it!
