We’re chuffed to bits that our clients Made By Mortals are British Podcast Award 2022 winners for their podcast Armchair Adventures! Our MIC’s Podcast Club regulars get well-deserved nods too!

On Saturday 23rd July the MIC Media and MIC’s Podcast crew headed down to the big smoke to rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in podcasting – and Hollywood star Idris Elba! We watched the ceremony live at Kennington Park in London as the community-theatre group from Ashton, in Greater Manchester bagged Bronze in the Kids and Family category. 

What an achievement not only to be one of ten nominations from thousands of entries but then third! We’re over the moon for them and dead proud! It’s a real testament to the originality and creativity of the Armchair Adventures podcast

Coming second in the Kids and Family category was Super Great Kids’ Stories, and the winners, which were also named Podcast of the Year, was BBC’s Dear Daughter.

We work with Made by Mortals on the strategy and marketing for Armchair Adventures, a podcast for kids featuring the voices of real over 55’s. It came about through lockdown, to help bring people together. It’s since captured the imagination of thousands of listeners, featured on BBC R4, Podbible, and Kids Radio and has been praised by the likes of Prince William!

It’s expertly put together by the good eggs over at Story Publishing. Series 3 of Armchair Adventures is out this October! Listen to series 1 and 2 here!

We’re also stoked that our Pods Up North co-founder Kate Cocker won Best Podcast in the Daily category for her podcast Everyday Positivity. Also a shout out to Helen Brown who’s a regular at MIC’s Podcast Club, who along with her team won Best health and wellbeing podcast for Effin Hormones. Plus special shout-outs to Kate from the ADHD Women’s Wellbeing podcast (who received podcast coaching from us a few years ago!) and Eleanor from Tales from the Tannoy who were nominated or shortlisted too.

It was great to see so many indie podcasts become British Podcast Award winners! Which just shows, YES! You can win awards alongside the big boys! Put out great quality audio, talk directly to your audience, treat your community, be consistent – but most of all have a bloody ball doing it!
