We’re nominated in the Audio Production Awards!
Our founder Vic Elizabeth Turnbull receives a nomination in one of the UK’s most recognised awards for the audio industry, the Audio Production Awards aka The APA’s!
Over the bloody moon doesn’t quite describe how we feel to be recognised at this year’s Audio Production Awards. We’re up for the best Grassroots Production award.
What are the Audio Production Awards?
The APA’s are hosted by Audio UK, a member association for audio production across the UK and have been running since 2010. The awards celebrate the very best in radio and audio production.
Our founder Vic explains what the nomination means to us:
I was jumping around with joy when the news of our nomination came through! MIC media has been creating podcasts for good eggs since 2019. We get out of bed every day to help people to Grab The MIC, and amplify their voice and stories through top-quality audio, especially those that often go unheard. Just this year we’ve helped launch five podcasts for not-for-profits, from helping young community producers to tell the story of women in football, to enabling women from across Rochdale and Oldham to share their inspiring stories of strength. Not to mention staging monthly podcast support events with MIC’s Podcast Club, our community of almost 1,000 global podcasters.
I’m chuffed to bits that MIC’s important work is recognised by the podcast industry. A big thank-you to the Audio Production Awards judges for believing in what we do. Most of all a huge thank-you to all of the good eggs who we work with, who’ve trusted us to tell their story and really showed what the power of audio can do.
Who else is nominated?
Other nominees across the whole Audio Production Awards include some of the most recognised names in audio including BBC, Audible, Wondery, talkSport, The Times and The Guardian, plus some of our Manchester-production company buddies like Audio Always and Crowd Network. We’re also over the moon that one of our MIC’s Podcast Club members Helen Brown, along with her dream team has been nominated for her ace podcast Effin’ Hormones.
A massive congratulations to everyone nominated for an APA this year and the very best of luck!
Fingers crossed 🤞
Poppy and Rubina, hosts of the hit podcast Brown Girls Do It Too (and previous MIC’s Podcast Club guests) will host the 2022 APA’s ceremony that will be held at the BFI South Bank on Wednesday 23 November.
Can you cross your fingers, toes…everything for us?
