MIC media’s founder Vic Elizabeth Turnbull took to the stage at the inaugural Podnews Live event in Manchester, sharing her passion for the power of podcasts to change people’s lives for the better.

The event, which was hosted by Podnews, one of the biggest podcast industry newsletters and podcasts, brought together podcast industry movers and shakers from across the north of England. Vic joined a stellar line-up of speakers, including folk from Crowd Network, Audio Always, Sports Social, Content 10x, Captivate and BBC.

In her talk, Vic shared her story of how she went from a working-class background in South Yorkshire to becoming the boss of her own podcast production company. She spoke about how her love of radio and a life-changing experience at a youth radio project when she was 16 changed her life and gave her the confidence to pursue audio as a career. She added how she wanted to create those confidence-boosting moments for others, by using audio as a catalyst.

Vic also spoke about the work that MIC Media does to upskill people with the know-how and confidence to get podcasting. As well as producing podcasts that amplify the voices and stories of those we might not usually get to hear.

The event was a huge success, and Vic’s talk was praised for her insights into the power of podcasts.
