In October, the MIC’s Podcast Club community comes together once again for our online monthly podcaster QnA. It’s where we and our community together to offer free support for podcasters!

MIC’s Podcast Club‘s online monthly events are two hours full of dvice about podcasting shared by the Podcast Club community. We have over 970 members worldwide!

The meetup has a really simple set-up, you either:

Come with your podcasting question to ask your fellow MIC community of podcasters
Sharing your podcasting advice and knowledge by answering a question
Simply sit back and soak up all the useful podcasting tips and hints

Whether you’ve been going for 1 season or 16, you always learn something new about podcasting at MIC’s Podcast Club!

It’s MIC’s Podcast Club’s in-person Manchester meetup for podcasters (aka our summer social) and you’re invited!

MIC’s ‘social’ is a chance to have a drink and shoot the breeze with your fellow podcasters and audio geeks in Manchester on Friday 5th August 2022. Oh, and thanks to our buddies Captivate your first drink is on us! Captivate are an awesome UK-based hosting service for your podcast and are very good eggs.

All you need to bring is yourself and some money for drinks / food to this in-person meetup for podcasters – obviously after your free, first drink that’s on us!

Bit of Podcast Club history for you here

MIC’s Podcast Club (originally just called ‘MIC’ – it’s where we got our name from) was founded to bring podcasters together physically. There wasn’t and still isn’t a community like this in the UK for podcasters. We started it in late 2018 and throughout 2019 and early 2020 met exclusively in person. Then COVID happened and we went online only.

At almost 1,000 members, our virtual meetups have enabled our community to grow with podcasters from across the world – and we will continue to put our virtual events online each month. We think it’s still dead important to support podcasters from everywhere. However, there’s something special about people coming together in actual real, life person – especially when you have a shared passion – like podcasting! So throughout 2022 and 2023, we will try and do a few more of these in-person socials, maybe some in different locations too!

At July’s MIC’s Podcast Club we talk about asking your listener for money with a panel of podcasters from our community who are doing just that.

We’ll chat about the different ways of doing it like Patreon, best practice tips, pitfalls to watch out for, does this actually work, and how to be realistic in your approach.

Part 2 of the meetup is our traditional podcaster QnA where we ask and answer any queries about podcasting.

About Arielle Nissenblatt

She’s the founder of EarBuds Podcast Collective, a weekly podcast newsletter and podcast. She is the Community Manager at SquadCast.fm, a remote recording platform.

She is a graduate of the Salt Institute of Audio Documentary Studies. Nissenblatt is a podcast marketing expert, having spoken on panels at conferences such as Podcast Movement, International Documentary Association’s Podcast Day, at USC, Montana Media Lab, American University, and more. She is one of the founders of Podcast Taxonomy, an international effort to categorize roles and credits in the podcast industry.

Nissenblatt listens to over 40 hours of audio content per week. She is a podcast industry futurist and believes in the power of audio to break down cultural barriers.

How to win a podcast award QnA in Feb!

Podcast Awards are a great way to build recognition and a respected profile for your podcast. But how do you enter them – and most importantly win one?

This February we’re talking about how to win a podcast award. First up is Matt Deegan (bio below 👇), he’s the co-founder of the British Podcast Awards. The annual awards have become the most respected podcast accolades in the UK and across the world. He’ll be giving you top tips to get noticed by the BPA judges and a look at how some previous winners did it.

After Matt, we have a chat with a panel of award-winning podcasters to explore how they went about entering and taking the crown at other podcast awards, as well as the BPA’s. We’ll also take a look at if having an award-winning podcast under your belt, actually makes a difference. They’ll be:

About Matt Deegan

Matt started his career at the Radio Academy, before bidding for FM and digital licences for GWR and then leading strategic projects at Classic FM and Capital FM.

He went on to co-found Folder Media and Fun Kids. Folder created and runs the MuxCo network of DAB multiplexes as well as managing networks on behalf of Wireless and Nation. Folder also makes content – it devised and produced the Love Island podcast for ITV as well as programmes for Radio 1, BBC Sounds, 1Xtra, Radio 2 and Radio 4. Matt is the Executive Producer of Worst Dates for BBC Sounds and Nappy Days for MTV.

Matt’s also responsible for leading the team behind children’s media brand Fun Kids, spanning a national DAB radio station, podcast network, website and YouTube channels.

Outside of the day-job, Matt co-founded the British Podcast Awards, writes a weekly newsletter on audio and hosts The Media Podcast.
