News Brown Girls Do It Too March meetup guests!
Our first MIC’s Podcast Club special guest of 2021! We’re over the bloody moon to welcome Poppy and Rubina from Brown Girls Do It Too – the badass podcast that won the 2020 Podcast of the Year at the British Podcast Awards.
Brown Girls Do It Too on BBC Sounds, covers all sorts, from Dirty Talk to the A to Z of Sex Toys, Poppy and Rubina confess all the funny and intimate details of their sex lives. A South Asian woman still can’t talk openly about her sex life, but Poppy and Rubina are determined to change that, beginning with their own experiences.
They’ll be joining us for half of MIC’s Podcast Club to talk award-winning, taboo breaking podcasting. Plus they’ll be a chance to ask your Q’s to the girls too. We can’t tell you how much we’re looking forward to this.

MIC’s Podcast Club on Wednesday 17th March, is split into two, the first half is a classic free-for-all podcasting QnA asked and answered by the community there on the night.
The second half, a QnA with our guests, Brown Girls Do It Too.
What goes down
We’ve covered loads of useful stuff like media coverage, mailing lists, trailers, remote recording, audiograms, microphones, growing your audience, “shortcasts” and rating and reviewing podcasts.
And at #MICsPodcastClub we’ve been joined by professional podcast producers, hobbyists and DIY creators, BBC journalists, PR specialists and radio professionals – it really is for anyone who’s crazy about podcasting.

In Brown Girls Do It Too, Poppy and Rubina speak to a whole range of women, who are all ‘doing it too’ and who proud to talk about their relationship and sex lives.
The stakes are high for a South Asian woman talking openly about her sex life, both Poppy and Rubina have faced enormous backlash online and from their families for being so frank on this podcast. Yet they insist they must carry on – and as Rubina says in Episode One of the new series, “an orgasm is a human right” and so is their right to talk about it.
Through the new series on BBC Sounds, Poppy and Rubina learn about their own boundaries as they grow closer and become more comfortable talking about this most challenging of all subjects.
