“Our podcast,’ Children’s University: Live!, made by MIC media, is a great selling tool for us to show what we do. It's definitely given us credibility with potential partners.

Podcasting is a level of engagement that you wouldn't get in any other format. It gives a charity an opportunity to embed themselves in someone's life in a completely different way. It’s like a friend! And MIC media's helped Children’s University to do that.”

About

A social franchise of 66 different organisations that deliver the Children’s University (CU) programme across 1,000 schools and 110,000 kids!

Mission

For the small team to communicate their learning,  messages and opinion-pieces with everyone in their network – beyond their annual conference.

Goals

  • Create the opportunity for the whole CU network to hear and learn from CU
  • Get extra value from the annual conference
  • Generate extra credibility for stakeholders, and potential partners / funders

Challenges

  • No skills/time in-house to produce podcasts
  • CU is a complex charity
  • Difficult for a small charity to communicate with it’s large national network
  • Not all networks can attend CU’s annual conference
  • Learning/expertise shared at the conference is limited to those who can attend

Solutions

  • 1 podcast series launched showcasing the expertise and forward-thinking nature of CU
  • With a focus on the future of education and social mobility
  • Initially launched with content from conference and format designed for longevity
  • 5 conference talks professionally recorded live
  • 12 podcast episodes (and counting!)
“Working with MIC made perfect sense to us because podcasting stopped our annual conference being just what happens within four walls on one day.
So the speeches that move people to tears on that day can continue to move people to tears. They can be shared and they can spread.”
