That Inspire Feeling podcast
MIC works with Inspire Women CIC in Oldham, Greater Manchester to train and guide the brilliant women who access their services to create their own series, ‘That Inspire Feeling’ podcast.
Inspire Oldham is a brilliant Community Interest Organisation. They provide services and a supportive network that’s all about supporting and listening to women. At Inspire the women involved gain new friends, confidence and skills.
Delivering our Blended Service
Over 5 months we worked with a group of their beneficiaries. This combined podcast training and production, including programme of workshops such as what podcasts are, how to conduct a really great interview and how to edit audio. Then we provided the group with production support to help put everything together to a high quality.
Our Blended Service ensures that this podcast does not stop after we’ve stopped working with the girls. We’ve left the team with the skills, knowledge and podcast blueprint to continue to make podcasts for and by women.
At the start of our work, most of the Inspire ladies had zero knowledge of podcasts, let alone make one. But, they had a real eagerness to share their experiences to help other women. Some had suffered grief, are living with mental health struggles, some couldn’t leave the house, others are carers, and had history of substance abuse or long-term illness. On top of that, the whole programme and podcast was delivered and recorded online.
Just five months later the group launched their 4-part series ‘That Inspire Feeling’
The Inspire Feeling podcast is to help other women overcome life’s challenges and is a direct product of the group’s vibrant ideas, passions and life experiences. Oh, and let’s not forget their northern humor.
This was part of a wider community researchers and reporter project – where Inspire also worked with our social enterprise buddies Yellow Jigsaw. It’s funded by Oxfam and the National Lottery’s Awards for All Funding.
