We’re chuffed to bits to be recognised by the audio industry at this year’s Audio Production Awards, aka the APA’s. MIC and our founder Vic Elizabeth Turnbull were announced as the Silver winners in the Grassroots Production category.
The winners were announced at a glitzy awards night which was hosted by Poppy and Rubina, from the hit podcast Brown Girls Do It Too (and previous MIC’s Podcast Club guests) at the iconic Roundhouse in London in late November. Other APA winners include producers for talkSPORT, BBC 1Xtra, Audible and The Times.
Our Vic explains what the Silver accolade means to us,
I simply can not overestimate how much winning a silver Audio Production Award means to me and MIC media. Especially as a social enterprise. MIC’s has been creating podcasts for good eggs since 2019. We get out of bed every day to help people to Grab The MIC, and amplify their voices and stories through top-quality audio, especially those that often go unheard. Just this year we’ve helped launch five podcasts for not-for-profits, from helping young community producers to tell the story of women in football, to enabling women from across Rochdale and Oldham to share their inspiring stories of strength. Not to mention staging monthly podcast support events with MIC’s Podcast Club, our community of almost 1,000 global podcasters.
I’m chuffed to bits that MIC’s important work is recognised by the podcast and audio industry. A big thank-you to the Audio Production Awards judges for believing in what we do. Most of all a huge thank-you to all of the good eggs who we work with, who’ve trusted us to tell their story and really showed what the power of audio can do. This award is for you. We can’t wait to see (and hear) what 2023 brings for MIC media!
What they the Audio Production Awards?
The APA’s are hosted by Audio UK, a member association for audio production across the UK, and have been running since 2010. The awards celebrate the very best in radio and audio production.
