‘Now and Men’ is the latest podcast to roll off the MIC Media production line and this time we took a ‘blended approach’ to working with our clients at Durham University…
Sometimes our clients want to learn about how to make a podcast themselves, but also want to make sure that what they’re launching sounds quality and professional. This is where MIC Media and our blended approach come in.
Over the last few months, we’ve been working with the good eggs in the Department of Sociology at Durham University to help them launch their brand-new podcast ‘Now and Men’. It’s a series that discusses what it’s like to be a man in the 21st century, and how feminist issues are relevant to the lives of men and boys.
MIC delivered a series of real-time, virtual workshops, sessions, and homework (yes!) to get the team to a point where they could record their first interview with their very first guest. Plus, set up their podcast ready for the first episode. We then made them a gorgeous trailer and the episode. The team is now equipped with everything they need to continue to make it themselves!
We were like their best buddy when it came to making their podcast and held their (virtual, sanitised) hand along the way.

Dr. Stephen Burrell from Durham University talks about how we worked with them on the podcast,
“It was such a pleasure to work with Vic from MIC Media in setting up our podcast, ‘Now and Men: Current conversations on men’s lives’. For a long time, I’ve wanted to create a podcast, but it is only thanks to Vic that this has actually become a reality. We learned so much from her about the whole process of podcasting; from designing your show to organising, recording, hosting, and producing individual episodes, to getting it out there in the world – and we had lots of fun in the process!
Vic has been an enormous source of wisdom on this, from working with us to record our first episode, to always providing helpful answers to the myriad questions we come to her with.”
He continues to explain what the future now holds for the Now and Men podcast,
“I feel really excited and proud about what we have come up with. I feel confident that we can keep it growing in the long term, which is all thanks to Vic and MIC Media.
One of the great things about podcasts is their DIY nature, but setting one up successfully still requires learning a range of knowledge and skills, so if you are serious about it, I would say look no further than MIC Media to get started.”
A big thanks to Stephen, Professor Nicole Westmarland, and Sandy Ruxton at Durham University for being an absolute dream to work with – we’re so looking forward to hearing where you take Now and Men!
