Nominated for Best Podcast!
Back of the net! Our podcast production for the National Football Museum ‘Quite Unsuitable for Females’ has been nominated for ‘Best Podcast’ at this year’s MPA Awards from the Manchester Publicity Association – the voice of Manchester’s communications community.
We’re chuffed to bits to be nominated in this year’s MPA Inspiration Awards in their ‘Best Podcast’ category for our partnership with the National Football Museum.
The MPA Awards, first staged in 2013, not only recognises the amazing talent from across the city but they’re also a way of inspiring future innovation and creativity, which are what the MPA call “key tools to unlock the potential and address the challenges of the road ahead”.
The awards cover a variety of sectors and consist of people-focused awards and specialist categories including The Martyn Hett Inspiring Manchester Award
About Quite Unsuitable for Females
Last year, to coincide with the women’s euros, we worked with the National Football Museum and a team of their awesome young, community producers to create a podcast about their experiences of women’s football.
Listen here
‘Quite Unsuitable for Females’ explores women’s football past, present, and future. From iconic stars of the 1920’s, the FA ban, kit, representation, and those huge crowds the women’s game attracts.
The podcast went down a storm, it was #1 on Apple podcasts new and noteworthy and received coverage on BBC R4, The Guardian, The Times, Podbible, and Great British Podcasts – which has recently recommended the podcast again as the Women’s World Cup is currently underway!
Vic Elizabeth Turnbull, MIC Media Founder and CEO is delighted that the podcast has been recognised
“Working with the top-flight team at the National Football Museum was an awesome experience. We’re all about amplifying unheard voices at MIC media, so we were stoked to be working with the awesome community producers to bring stories of women in football off the sideline and into the spotlight. This ‘Best Podcast’ nomination from the MPA, the success of the podcast, and the producer’s unique perspective have all helped to ensure that these stories are not forgotten again. A big thanks to the MPA and the judging panel for considering our podcast and best of luck to all of this year’s nominations. “
A big shout out to Rosy, Uma, Debs, and Meg for being podcast production superstars, and sharing their ideas, and passion to create such a fabulous podcast. We couldn’t have done it with out you.
We’ll find out the winner on Thursday 19th October – get those fingers crossed for us!
