Giving the learning-disabled community a voice – with Carousel
The Carousel Radio podcast is made, presented and features the talent of Carousel’s learning-disabled artists. But how do they do it and why this approach is incredibly important to the charity. Discover how they’re giving participants a voice and what the impact has been at the next Grab The MIC: Live on Tuesday 25th July. This is the rescheduled date from our original June one.
Carousel Radio is an award-winning podcast series from Carousel. They’re a charity that supports people with learning disabilities to explore and develop their artistic talent. On top of this, they provide lots of opportunities for their artists to showcase what they do through performances, films, festivals, club nights, and podcasts!
Carousel Radio, which is also broadcast monthly on a local Brighton radio station, is produced and presented entirely by learning-disabled people. Their current season focuses on features that highlight the creative spoken word, truthful audio diaries, and passionate political viewpoints from learning-disabled people.
It’s made a huge impact too, winning Gold at the Audio Production Awards 2022, Silver at the Lovie Awards 2020 and in 2018 Gold at the British Podcast Awards.
This Grab The MIC: Live conversation is set to be a fabulous insight into what goes into making a podcast for and by the learning-disabled community.
