The People’s Powerhouse Podcast is now LIVE!
We’re huge fans of the People’s Powerhouse and were totally delighted when they asked MIC to produce their debut podcast ‘This is The North’.
The People’s Powerhouse is a movement that shapes the debate around the Northern Powerhouse, to ensure that people and communities are at the heart of the Powerhouse plans, not the periphery!
It was born out of a protest movement; a big tick in our books. Plus, as proud Northerners, their ethos really chimed with us. We’re also all about representation; so with all this we jumped at the chance to create their podcast!
We recorded the first episode of ‘This is The North’ live from the City of Light Stadium in Sunderland, at the 3rd Annual People’s Powerhouse convention.
This first episode is your ‘one-stop shop’ to understanding what exactly is the People’s Powerhouse, how it works and most importantly how you can get involved…
The People’s Powerhouse Podcast features interviews with Patrick Melia, the CEO of Sunderland City Council, Vidhya Alakeson CEO of the Power to Change charity, Edna Robinson, Chair of the People’s Powerhouse and Nazir Afzal OBE, former Chief Crown Prosecutor and Trustee of the People’s Powerhouse.
In total, there’s nearly 20 different voices in this podcast, representing a real mix of backgrounds, ages and nationalities. We think that this perfectly reflects the true heart of the North and the People’s Powerhouse.
This podcast has been made possible through funding from the RSA – thank-you!
