Our CEO Vic’s joined the main judging panel for this year’s British Podcast Awards, alongside the likes of the BBC, The Guardian and Channel 4.
Vic has been judging podcast awards since 2021, alongside running MIC and working closely with organisations, charities and independent creators to make podcasts that actually connect with people.
The British Podcast Awards have spent the past decade recognising the breadth of podcasting across the UK, from independent creators to major networks, celebrating the creativity, craft and care that goes into making great audio.
Here’s what Vic has to say..

“I love podcasts that make you feel something, the ones you can’t stop thinking about, the ones you can’t wait to tell your pals about.
At MIC media, we’ve always backed indie creators and grassroots podcasters, the people doing brilliant work without big budgets or teams behind them, but with something important to say.
As a British Podcast Awards judge I’m especially looking forward to hearing those voices alongside the more established ones, because that mix is what makes podcasting what it is.
The British Podcast Awards play an important role in recognising the breadth of podcasting from across the country, and I’m properly excited to hear this year’s entries, especially the podcasts I’ve not come across yet. At its best, podcasting starts with a good idea and someone deciding to stick a microphone in front of their face and share it with the world. That’s what podcasting is all about, and I can’t wait to hear it.”
If You’re Thinking of Entering
Here’s a few things to keep in mind:
- Take the time to read the criteria properly and make sure your podcast genuinely fits the category you’re entering.
- Be clear about what your podcast is and who it’s for, don’t assume the judges know anything about it.
- Choose your strongest episodes and don’t waste valuable listening time on long intros or filler.
- And use the space you’re given to properly explain your podcast, like why it exists, what it does, and why it should win.
