MIC at The Podcast Show 2026: Funding Kids’ Podcasts

MIC founder Vic Elizabeth Turnbull returns to The Podcast Show London 2026 this May to speak on a panel about how kids’ podcast funding, in her role as Marketing Consultant for the award-winning Armchair Adventures podcast by Made By Mortals.

Kids’ podcasts are a fast-growing genre, but how they’re funded still looks very different from the rest of the industry. At this year’s show, Vic will be part of a panel unpacking what it really takes to make and sustain kids’ audio.

Vic will be speaking in her capacity as Marketing Consultant for Armchair Adventures, a podcast she has worked on with Made By Mortals for almost six years. This also marks her second year speaking at the event.

The Panel

For the Who Pays for Kids’ Podcasts? Inside the Funding That Powers Family Audio panel, Vic will be joined by key figures from across the UK kids’ content space:

  • Jenna Clarke (Sleepiest / Koala Kids)
  • Matt Deegan (Fun Kids / Podcast Discovery)
  • Chaired by Nigel Clarke (Dadvengers)

Bringing Insight

Vic brings a real-world perspective from her long-standing work on Armchair Adventures, created by not-for-profit arts organisation Made By Mortals CIC.

It’s an award-winning, interactive podcast for children aged 6–8, combining storytelling, music and movement, with real voices from older people shaping each adventure.

It’s also a great example of how kids’ podcast funding is different, for example through partnerships, commissions and funding that sits outside the usual ad model.

Vic adds:

I’m delighted to be returning to The Podcast Show this year. Through my work on Armchair Adventures, I’ve seen how kids’ podcasts are some of the most creative in the industry — but also some of the hardest to fund and sustain. I’m looking forward to helping demystify how these shows are made possible, and what it really takes to build something that lasts.
