Again! Our founder in Top 100 women in social…
What an achievement! Two years running our founder Vic Elizabeth Turnbull has been recognised in NatWest’s and Pioneer Post’s WISE100, the top 100 women in social enterprise. The annual list comprises the most inspiring and influential women in social enterprise and mission-driven business!
Vic founded MIC media in 2019 with the mission to help good eggs to amplify their voice and stories through quality audio. We specialise in working with social impact organisations and those who do good, from value-led corporates, international NGO’s and housing associations to local authorities and charities.
Every day, Vic strives to give the underheard a platform to have their say. Just in the last year, Vic’s led the podcast production and training company to create five podcast series and show over 500 people how to podcast, including working with start-ups, women living with trauma, parents of SEND children, international humanitarian teams, diverse and young community producers and school kids.
No other social enterprise is working this way, with these types of people and organisations through audio.
In 2022, she contributed to a Guardian article about podcasting and was invited to be on the judging panel for both the British Podcast Awards and the International Women’s Podcast Award. Later that year she steered MIC media to win Silver at the Audio Production Awards and receive a nomination in the Manchester Culture Awards.
She also founded MIC’s Podcast Club, one of the largest communities for podcasters in the UK.
Vic’s chuffed to bits to have been recognised as one of the top 100 women in social enterprise once again, she adds,
I’m over the moon to included on such an incredible list of amazing women two years running! I started MIC media to give anyone the opportunity to amplify their voice and stories through top-quality podcasts and audio. I hope this accolade can help us to reach more unheard voices through the power of podcasts.
The WISE100 list so special because it’s made up of awesome people making a difference. A roll call of good eggs, it’s that simple, and I’m so, so proud to be a part of it.
The WISE 100, in partnership with Pioneers Post was first announced in October 2017, this is the sixth edition of the WISE100 List. Megan Virrels, CEO of NatWest Social & Community Capital, said: “NatWest is incredibly proud to host the WISE100 Awards, celebrating the inspirational women leading the way in social and environmental change. This event is a key component of our work at NatWest Social & Community Capital to support social enterprise, and is in line with our wider support agenda for women in business, ethnic minority enterprise and youth-owned businesses.”
A massive well done to all the women on this year’s WISE100 – especially our Greater Manchester soc ent sisters and collaborators, Nickala Torkington from Flourish Together CIC, Beth Nunn from PIE, Grace Dyke from Yellow Jigsaw CIC and Simone Callaghan from The Goodness Collective CIC.
